Þessi síða er í boði á ensku og sænsku.
These terms apply when you use rio.watch to rent or buy films, on the web and in the Rio apps for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. By creating an account or making a purchase you accept these terms.
Who you are buying from
The service is provided by Rio Pictures AB (company reg. no. 559254-5452), Hornsgatan 24, 118 20 Stockholm, Sweden. Contact: support@rio.pictures.
Your account
- You need an account to rent, buy and watch. The account is personal and may not be shared outside your household or resold.
- You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to create an account and make purchases.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what is done with your account. Let us know straight away if you suspect someone else is using it.
- You can delete your account at any time under Profile. See the privacy policy for what happens to your data.
Where the service is available
rio.watch is intended for people living in the Nordic countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The rights to each film apply only in certain countries, so the films you can rent and buy depend on where you are. We determine this from your IP address.
A rental can only be started and watched in a country where the film is licensed. A purchased film can usually also be watched while you are temporarily travelling outside the Nordics. You may not use a VPN or similar to get around these restrictions.
Renting a film
- When you rent a film you have 30 days to start watching.
- Once you have started, you have 48 hours to finish, unless something else is stated before payment. You can watch as many times as you like during that time.
- The rental period cannot be paused or extended.
Buying a film
When you buy a film you get a personal right to stream it in the service for as long as rio.watch exists and we hold the rights to the film. You do not buy a copy of the film and cannot download it.
If we were to lose the rights to a purchased film or close the service, we will tell you in advance where possible, and you keep the rights consumer law gives you.
Some films can be pre-ordered. You pay when you order and can watch from the release date.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in local currency and include VAT. The price shown when you pay is the one that applies.
- On the web you pay by card via Stripe.
- In the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV app you pay with an App Store in-app purchase. Apple's terms for App Store purchases then also apply, and Apple takes the payment.
Films you have rented or bought appear in your library on all your devices, wherever you paid.
Right of withdrawal
Under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal. For digital content delivered immediately, the right of withdrawal does not apply once delivery has started. When you pay, you ask us to make the film available immediately and accept that the right of withdrawal ends when you start watching.
If you have not started watching a rented or purchased film, you can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days. A pre-order can be withdrawn until the release date. Email support@rio.pictures.
Refunds and faults
- Web purchases: if a film cannot be played because of a fault on our side, or if you are entitled to withdraw, we refund the same card. Email support@rio.pictures with your receipt.
- App Store purchases: Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Please contact us as well and we will help if the film does not work.
Devices
You can watch in an up-to-date web browser on a computer, on iPhone and iPad with the Rio app and on Apple TV with the Rio app. On the web you can also send the film to a TV with Chromecast (Chrome) or AirPlay (Safari). Films are copy protected (DRM), so an updated browser or app and a stable internet connection are required. We do not guarantee that the service works on every device.
Member benefits and staff
Rio 4-Ever members may get free or discounted rentals in campaigns on rio.watch. Benefits are personal, apply while the membership is active and may change. The membership is sold by Bio Rio AB under Bio Rio's terms. Rio employees may have access to the films in the service as part of their work.
Discount and gift codes
- Codes are redeemed on the rio.watch website while signed in. Rentals and purchases you get with a code then appear in your library as usual.
- Each code has its own conditions: which films it covers, whether it is for renting or buying, how long it is valid and how many times it can be used. Unless stated otherwise, each person can use a code once.
- A code cannot be exchanged for money, combined with other discounts or member prices, or used on a film you already own or are currently renting. A discount is taken off the price that applies when you pay.
- A used code is not restored if the purchase is withdrawn or refunded. We may switch off codes that are shared publicly, resold or used against these terms.
Acceptable use
Films are for private viewing. You may not:
- show the films publicly or for payment,
- record, copy or distribute the films,
- circumvent copy protection, geographic restrictions or other technical protection,
- use the service in a way that harms it, other users or the rights holders.
If you breach these terms we may suspend your account.
Liability
We do our best to keep the service running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. We are not liable for indirect damage. This does not affect your rights under mandatory consumer law.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. For changes that affect you, we will notify you in the service or by email before they take effect. Purchases you have already made are not affected to your disadvantage.
Governing law and disputes
Swedish law applies. Please contact us first. If we cannot agree, you can turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN), arn.se, or to a general court. As a consumer in another Nordic country you keep the protection the law of your home country gives you.
